If I’ve learned anything from my trip, it’s
that God is all-knowing. He has a plan, not only for others, but for me as well.
This mission trip to La Vallée de Jacmel, Haiti was very special to me in many ways. Many people are not fortunate enough to even get an opportunity like this, so I am just extremely blessed to be able to go through such a rewarding, satisfying, and life-changing experience especially with people I truly care about. Perhaps for the first time, I’ve realized the countless challenges people face every day all over the world. Not only did God work through me to make a difference in these kid’s lives, but He used these kids and different circumstances around us to teach and touch us in ways that will change our lives forever.
Although we were not able speak the same language, we still communicated in ways that allowed us to create relationships and form special bonds with the children at the camp. It was pretty evident how much we began to care for these kids, and only after a short period of time I began to get a better understanding of love and life. I could tell that each child didn’t have an easy life, and had to work very hard to get to where they are today. I could see the pain and hurt in their faces, which only brought pain and hurt in my heart. Some kids didn’t have shoes, some had to walk miles to get to where they needed to go, some could only afford one meal a day, some didn’t have a home, and the lists goes on and on. God works and changes people’s lives every day, and He did amazing, miraculous things in Haiti. If I’ve learned anything from my trip, it’s that God is all-knowing. He has a plan, not only for others, but for me as well. I can’t begin to express how thankful I am for what Andrew and the rest of the Mission Renew crew did to make this trip happen. I am forever grateful for each member who was with us, and the relationships that were built along the way. There is no way to completely express my gratitude. I hope I will be back very soon!
